Prof. (Dr.) J. K. Basu offers comprehensive horoscope analysis in Kolkata and online, combining the birth chart with relevant divisional charts to address your individual questions. Education, career, marriage, relationships and business are considered with attention to significant periods, opportunities and challenges. Detailed chart analysis is followed by a personal discussion, supported by handwritten notes explaining the key observations.
15 divisional charts: Detailed chart assessment, bringing together findings relevant to your questions and consultation objectives.
Approximately three hours of analysis: Time devoted to studying the horoscope and preparing the observations before your personal discussion.
Approximately one hour of personal discussion: An opportunity to understand the findings, discuss your concerns and clarify the points raised.
4–5 pages of personally handwritten notes: A written record of the key observations and guidance for you to refer to after the consultation.
The consultation brings related areas of life into a single discussion, with emphasis on your priorities and specific questions.
Education and higher studies: Choice of subjects, professional courses, specialisation and further study.
Career and professional direction: Suitable work domains, employment or business, and questions about professional progress or change.
Marriage and relationships: Questions about marriage prospects, timing and married life, considered through the relevant charts.
Business suitability: Assessment of business domains and the suitability of an independent venture in relation to your horoscope.
Significant periods: Astrological assessment of opportunities, challenges and transitions relevant to the matters discussed.
Prof. (Dr.) J. K. Basu examines the D1 birth chart alongside the Bhava Chalit chart, Navamsa (D9), Moon chart and the divisional charts relevant to your questions. Findings are compared across these charts to develop a connected interpretation.
For example, education is examined through the D24 chart with supporting charts, while professional questions involve the D10 chart. Marriage assessment places particular emphasis on the D9 chart. Relevant astrological periods are considered to discuss the timing of opportunities, challenges and changes.
The personal discussion brings these observations together and explains how they relate to your concerns.
Please keep the following information ready:
Date of birth: Your complete birth date, including the year.
Time of birth: The recorded time, with AM or PM clearly stated. Mention whether it comes from a birth record, family recollection or an estimate.
Place of birth: The town or city, state and country.
Your main questions: A short list of the matters you would like to discuss, arranged in order of importance.
If your birth time is uncertain, mention this before the analysis begins so that its implications for the chart interpretation can be discussed.
Accurate birth-time information is particularly important when calculating the Ascendant and divisional charts. To understand how differences in recorded birth time can affect traditional horoscope analysis, read our research article, Why Accurate Birth Time Matters in Vedic Astrology.

The consultation brings together birth-chart and divisional-chart analysis to examine your main questions, relevant life areas and significant astrological periods. Prof. (Dr.) J. K. Basu explains the findings during a personal discussion and provides handwritten notes recording the key observations and guidance.
The analysis uses 15 divisional charts, with findings considered alongside the D1 birth chart, Bhava Chalit chart and Moon chart. Particular emphasis depends on your questions—for example, D24 for education, D10 for career and D9 for marriage. The interpretation brings together the relevant chart findings.
Approximately three hours are devoted to detailed chart analysis and preparation, followed by around one hour of personal discussion. These are separate stages: the preparation time is the astrologer’s analysis time, while the discussion is your opportunity to understand the findings and clarify your questions.
